It is the legal and moral duty of food handlers to guarantee that the food they are manufacturing, preparing and serving is safe for human consumption, particularly even more important when providing food to people who may suffer from allergies and intolerances. Allergies can be devastating, even life threatening and due to the severity of this, it is imperative that food handlers are fully educated on how to reduce the risk of an allergic reaction.
The content of the course has been designed to adhere to regulations outlined in the new Food Labelling Regulations – EC1169/2011, as well as the European Provision of Food Information to Consumers Regulation 2011. The stipulation of both of these regulations is that all food handlers should have knowledge of allergens and the ability to provide allergen information for all items sold.
Our Food Allergen Training Level 2 Couse has been carefully designed to increase awareness on allergies and expand your knowledge about intolerances. The 14 main allergens will be explored in detail, as well as tips and guidance on how to safely prepare food and drink, the correct labelling of products and avoiding cross contamination.

Our online Food Allergen training course is interactive and user friendly. The course has been carefully divided up into 3 easy to follow modules that will help to enhance your knowledge and give you all of the important information you require as a food handler.
The first module discusses Understanding Food Allergens and will give you lots of useful information about the most common allergies in the food industry and their potential causes. The importance of providing accurate, current information to customers who may be prone to suffering from allergies will also be explained.
Dealing with Food Allergens is explored in more depth in the next module and the most recent requirements for discussing allergies with customers will be explained. An important requirement for food handlers is also the skill of analysing allergy information on food labels that may come pre-packed, you will be educated thoroughly to give you the confidence to do this.
The third module will look at the Serving of Non-Packed Foods. You will be taught how to prepare and serve non-packed food, while also utilising your knowledge of intolerances and allergies.
At the end of each section, you will be required to answer a few short questions based on the material you have just learnt – you will need to answer these correctly to enable you to progress to the next section (you’re allowed more than one go though, so don’t worry!) At the end of the completion of the entire course, you will need to take the end of course quiz, which consists of 10 multiple-choice questions. You will be required to answer at least 7 questions correctly to pass the course and receive your certificate. However, the course can be re-taken as many times as necessary until you do pass, so there is no pressure at all.
